Get Fit, Franklin County is a movement; a call to action to get moving!

According to the 2018-2019 Community Health Needs Assessment, only 20% of our County’s residents reported having exercised for 30 minutes, 5 days per week. Our goal is to increase that number.

We encourage all community members to adopt more active lifestyles for healthier lives. Any increase in physical activity is a step towards a healthier you!

Physical activity has lots of long-term health benefits for adults. It can:

  • Reduce risk of dementia, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers - including breast and lung cancer
  • Help manage chronic conditions, like diabetes and high blood pressure
  • Ease symptoms of arthritis, anxiety, and depression

Physical activity has big benefits for kids, too. It can:

  • Help them stay healthy as they get older
  • Build their muscle and bone strength
  • Improve their mood and sleep
  • Boost their grades in school

PreventT2 is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is a proven program to help prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. Visit


The Winter STREAK Wellness Program is a FREE 12-week community program designed to promote wellness by encouraging participants to increase physical activity, eat healthy and reduce stress. The resources can be used year-round.

Worksite Wellness Resources

Many adults spend half their waking hours at work. Regardless of size, resources, setting, and type, all worksites can play a big role in supporting employees to increase physical activity during the workday to feel their best. Need a workout to go? The National Institutes of Health provides you with a sample exercise routine anyone can do right at home. Pair this exercise routine with 10 to 15 minutes of walking and you will get a great workout for the day!
